A DG Murray trust programme implemented through funding from KFW.

The target population is young women aged between 15 and 29 years residing in Buffalo City Municipality, South Africa.

The focus of the programme is on key high-risk groups . Masibumbane Development Organisation received a 2,5 year funding to implement Bumb’ingomso.

The project aims to curb the first year student’s dropout rate and contributes towards the retention as well as throughput of the first year students at Buffalo City and Lovedale Colleges

Project Objectives

  • Establish mechanisms that support students coping skills, resilience and ability to navigate effectively through the TVET system.
  • Enhance academic performance, through creating mechanisms which immediately identify if students are falling behind and coach them on how to address the gaps in their learning.
  • Establish a peer support programme that creates a sense of community, which will support students and maximise their chance of obtaining their qualifications.
